Deepfunk – Secret Souls. Incl. Petar Dundov Remix [Sixtysevensuns]
by Priya Sen March 19, 2015Fans and followers of Malcolm Abdilla, better known as Deepfunk will rejoice and celebrate this latest offering from the exponent of hypnotic, intelligent electronic music. The lone track is released on Sixtysevensuns label, titled – “Secret Souls”.
The approach on the original mix, is sprinkled with all the essentials that propel a release in to one of those, that joins a list of tunes, in the classics section. The mood of the track is buoyant, the melodic line yearns to uplift, and just about getting there. The center riff eschews effected hypnotism, the entire body bounces with filigreed tingles. The hooky shiny bass stabs anxiously carry you on to ride on this infectious, addictive floor killer. For one word – lush!
Resident Croatian music maker Petar Dundov provides the lone remix of the title track. Treating it with all kinds of Techno goodness. He fills it with a delayed drummy pattern, spinning and sighing to center the mass in the middle. The bass line is jittery, teasing and inviting you to give in all at once. The mellifluous melody shows it’s face with renewed vigor. This version can be easily the slingshot one can aim to throw at a floor, with wonderful results I imagine. There’s a fair bit of flickering acid percussion that over lay the proceedings.
This is all that creates a magical release, the one you must get for your music bag.
