My Escape EP- Chaty, Tamez & Gabriel I [Selador]

When Selador offers up a fresh release, namely- My Escape EP, then it’s time to peel off an astounding package bit by bit. Mexican and mellifluous Chaty, Tamez & Gabriel I; deserve more than a round of applause for making such a beautiful outing with their first full frontal tunage of the title track. The original has oodles of classic sounding brooding beats. The outer veneer gets fixed up with a bubbling layer, a prominent shine comes through with a fat Eastern melodic fixture winding around with fabulous effect. The mid range is a maelstrom of metallic synths and dusky bass pattern.
Turning around to the remixes..surprise surprise…Selador heavy-weight Dave Seaman tackles his imprint with straight up fierce attitude. Suddenly one gets a mean driving bass face, the original Melodic line riffs through wonderfully, slight inflections of Vocal come in and out, never disturbing the overall flow. The bubbling distorted pads and bee like percussions stand tall in his work. What Dave gets to the musical table is a monster stamp, designed to break the dance floor. By now I’m comfortable to get in to the Climbers Remix of the title track, these Mexican boys are just hot right now. Their stamp on it is slower, edgier and got a moodier tempo in my mind. The main riff gets more sinewy and snakes around in a murkier underground flavor with the crisp Bass thuds. An atmospheric quality, takes hold of one and all I can do is reel in fantastic music!!
Getting the EP heavier are additional tracks- ”Armanus”, was released by Chaty, Tamez & Gabriel I earlier as their Selador debut offering and is beautifully held together by a Joal Remix. The Berlin musician makes it his own with a palette of hurried arpeggio, thick gothic Bass bends around the Eastern instrumentation making it, a kind of sister tune of ”My Escape” with shattering grace. No mistake this one’s nasty.
To finish it up- ”Honest Perversion”, an interesting choice of title gives a stealthy feeling if you’re on the floor. It’s got a silky shimmering riff pattern, pulsing squelchy body with some muted shadowy bass gore.
Bravo to the artists in this EP and to Selador for being so ridiculously fab!! 😀
