Next up on Sudbeat, rising star of the Tel Aviv dance scene Khen, who makes for a modern musician with modern music tactics, rears his production head at us. His ascent to the top will shine with melody gravy, as – ”Sweet Break Up” packs the biggest punch. The EP contains 4 more excruciatingly handsome Original tunes, releasing bang in the middle of the upcoming party season and in short what a massive impact these tracks will make, is a promise left to unfold. The title track opens up as a cosmic chugger, full of gorgeous beats and a fluid melody line. The heaviness is accentuated with the underground spacey groove skipping, warm chords riding straight in to a russet colored sunset.
The fuse short circuits with ”Unexpected Landing”; the second offering is equal parts great production work and carries a melting club floor vibe. Turn this one up and you will experience the best shifting shimmering bass fuming with pleasure principle, ever. The rich driving groove, and peak time sequencing is unexpected work from the Khen stables, and adds another dimension to the young man’s talent. This is that dance track which is on one level incredibly familiar in it’s entirety, yet also refreshingly different on the other.
”Walking Into Myself” oozes delicate trembles at the back with a rushing around the corner bass line, accompanied by a cheeky riff pulsing over the sides, whereas ”Another Way” consolidates the package even further with it’s throaty bass synth, and a crisp perky bounce leading the charge. It’s slower, deeper, with a strong pulse going on and a sulky melodic sample that reeks of a classic approach, albeit on a contemporary face. The distinct high tech sound design not least of all, the washes of sparkles dance across the speakers like burning magnesium off a sparkler, is gob-smacking aural work.
Bringing things to a close is the superbly crafted and articulated musicality of ”Anise”, a spacey funk filled slow burning rocket, that nocturnal craft you want to take off in through laser cutting stabs of bass, in to a layered melodic symphony that courses languorously besides you. This one’s intricate, beautifully programmed, a chunky gem rock only meant for wild eyed dancing.
Three words – Take a bow!!
