Madloch – Bluebird Day. Incl Kastis Torrau & Hot TuneiK remixes. [HOOKAH Records]
by Priya Sen October 1, 2015An independent music label based out of Mexico City, HOOKAH Records fresh offering titled – “Bluebird Day” by Belgian DJ/Producer and label owner at Sound Avenue – Madloch, releases this week in all its pomp and splendor. As I get in, this EP quickly turns out to be one of my favorites.
First up the original track hits a sweet spot like no other, the only thing left to deconstruct is the gliding quality throughout the structure. It shivers with protean grace, sometimes swooping, sometimes alluring, sometimes delicate, yet possesses everything one would look for in a blasting dance original. Achingly poignant with its melody pattern, the bass line though glints and glimmers away, insisting that you sway, that you dance as it gets bigger and bigger ascending to fantastic clanging hypnotic fare.
This lone tune gets a first remix by Lithuanian musician Kastis Torrau, whose clever pieces of work and musicality in recent times, cannot just be tweaked up with mere words. The weight of his work is undeniably etched in intoxicating chunks of bass, with shards of melody dug deep in to dense percussive fixtures that go on and on. The lattice rhythms and swagger is pure Torrau!!
The finishing remix comes from Mexico’s Progressive House and Techno producer Hot TuneiK, who makes the track altogether terse and in a good way. Sounding tighter, more emphatic, he throws in a beautiful pace which bends you around atmospheric bass, and wide eyed melody warbles. Immersive, darker in mood, this is swanky, unrelenting remix work. Overall this release should give you enough torque for your spine, that divine floor buster, no matter which version one picks to play out.
