Stas Drive – Wide Eyed Angel [Movement Recordings]

Ukrainian DJ/Producer Stas Drive couldn’t be having a more sparkling time in the year, in terms of his production qualities touching the highest highs and it’s breath-taking to see offerings such as his latest titled – “Wide Eyed Angel” take off beautifully, as it’s poised to release on Greek imprint Movement Recordings next week.
The result is in plain sight by way of the original mix, a slice of electronic dance heaven that applies warm mid- tempo grooving. The extension of the bass line is sublime, alongside fine tinkles and pitter patter percussion, meanwhile the hypnotic pace show cases chunks of funk all throughout its 8 minutes. The laid back yet glittering and clearly dance infused vibe is unmistakable.
Getting deeper in to the pack with the reworks, just gets even more cosmic as the first comes from founder at the label Tash and his treatment of the original seems slightly that much more beefed up with the electronic histrionics getting hauntingly good with gravelly bass growls, flickers of vocalism and a bleeping center that makes this record sound perfectly pitched, at those who like the more sleazy and underground side of dance music. There’s also a soaring flirtatious melody play making down-tempo areas of club music welcome this one with a standing ovation.
The pack finishes off with BP’s Lazy Summer Remix that which lay’s down the dubbyness at a time when many producers are trying to imbue their work with a sense of dread and squeeze every drop of bass-heavy darkness from the studios, this version wears a big smile as spacey riff encircles shiny, sharp hissing percussion. A rolling, clean, pulsing groove underpins this creation; its understated presence nonetheless provides the impetus for DJs to play interiors. With a finger snap and shaker bass line, the melodic pings cascade around in a mood holding surprise.
Good stuff all around and this entire package should stand the test of time!!
